Dan found time today to cultivate the beds today, and Conner and Jason walked through the beds tonight and pulled any excess soil or straw that may have been pushed onto the plants. Expecting some rain the next couple days, and cooler temperatures this week...
The garlic crop is looking great! Last night Dan, Jason, and our good helper Cory spent some time converting our bed-shaper into a cultivator by dropping off the rear pan and installing some danish tines to break up the top layer of crust on the garlic beds, and get it set up for when the weeds start to appear in the next couple weeks. We opened the online store today! We currently have TGF t-shirts available, and are ready to accept pre-orders for scapes and garlic. Scapes will be harvested mid-June and will ship immediately upon harvest. Garlic orders placed prior to July 1st will be shipped the first week of August. Thanks for the encouragement and support from friends, family, and the garlic enthusiasts we have met over the past year!
As for the garlic, it's getting a little bigger every day... We reached 82 degrees yesterday, which tied the record. The Lilla Family spent the past few days removing mulch to help the beds heat up a bet to warm the soil temp and increase bulb size. Last night brought a 1/2" of rain that started to green up the grass, and make the garlic shoot up!
