About Tamarack Garlic Farm...
Tamarack Garlic Farm is located a few miles off the Mississippi River in the rural "Tamarack Valley" of Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. The first explorers noted this part of Wisconsin's "driftless" area being inhabited primarily with tamarack trees. The "Tamarack" farm name was chosen to show our respect to our relatives who were some of the first to settle in this area several generations ago. We typically grow between 20,000 - 40,000 garlic plants per year on 0.5-1.25 acres of land, depending on how ambitious we want to be the upcoming year. We have been selling garlic since our first "big crop" of garlic planted in 2014, and planted our first crop of French grey shallots in the fall of 2020 to continue to diversify our offerings from the farm. The shallots have been successful, and continue increasing the amount available for the 2024 harvest.
Jason has used his agriculture background & teaching experiences to help Tamarack Garlic Farm produce quality gourmet garlic. Jason's experiences teaching Plant & Soil Science and Ag Mechanics classes with high school students that incorporated the tasks of planting and managing a grape vineyard, raising bedding plants and poinsettias in a greenhouse, working at a local apple orchard, raising fish and shrimp to market size, restoring vintage tractors in the Ag Mechanics class, and involvement with the local county fair as an FFA Advisor and sheep superintendent. In his spare time, Jason can be found making wine and beer in the basement winery, and tinkering with his Case & Ingersoll garden tractors.
Molly has nearly 20 years of experience teaching math in the high school setting, but is no stranger to agriculture. She grew up on a family farm in Medford, Wisconsin, and has been involved with Tamarack Garlic Farm since its beginning. Hobbies include reading, quilting, and curling.
Both Molly and Jason can be found at their sons' Conner (15) and Tucker's (11) swimming lessons and baseball games in the summer when not in the garlic patch, or chasing after our dog, Ranger. Our mission at Tamarack Garlic Farm is to provide the best gourmet garlic in the Midwest through using a combination of hard work and using innovative and sustainable agriculture practices. |
